SOUNDS THAT BRING HAPPINESS

I recently wrote a post on how various smells can bring back memories.  I thought I'd take a look at sounds today.   Of all the senses, smells evoke the most memories, but sounds can bring back memories as well and help evoke emotions.    Here's a few of my favorite sounds:  



1.  A running stream of water in the woods

2.  An outdoor fountain

3.  Birds on a spring day


4.   Ocean waves

5.  Tree frogs on a summer night


6.  Crickets on a summer night


7.  The Mary Tyler Moore Theme song

8.  The sound of various machines in a hospital


9.   A fan

10.  Humidifier 


11.  Window air conditioning unit


12.  Rain on the roof and thunderstorms

13.  Crackling fireplace

14.  Christmas music


15.  Car driving on a gravel road or driveway


16.  The 'pop' of a cork being pulled


17.   The sound of coffee brewing  (I'm not a Keurig chick)


18.   The opening credits music to "It's A Wonderful Life"

I asked my hubby what sounds he liked.   There were a few that we had in common.  He's an outdoorsmen, so these were the ones that came to him first:

24.  Hound dogs on trail

25.  Bull Elk Bugle

26.  Flushing quail  ( not down the toilet…..flushing them out of the woods)

27.  Quaking Aspen trees

28.  Cattle lowing  ( mooing)

29.  Turkey gobble

30.  The sound of a forest at dawn and dusk.
