SIMILES QUIZ

I've always been a big fan of Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Carol'.   (yes, I know Christmas is quite a ways away) In his telling of the story, Dickens uses several similes.   I'll list a few of those at the bottom of the page.

Each year when I watch the George C. Scott version of "A Christmas Carol", I always enjoy watching the game 'Similes' that Scrooge's nephew plays with his party guests in the "ghost of Christmas present" part of the story.   In the game, someone says the first part of the simile to a guest.   They have to guess the rest in 5 seconds or they have lost and must stand behind their chair.   I always thought it looked like a fun game.

As a reminder, a simile is a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid

So let's play the game too.   Here's the beginning of a simile……can you complete it?  (If not, you must stand behind your chair)
